Piercing Laws Protecting Minors

Body art and piercing has become increasingly popular and its important to protect the health and well being of our minors.

The risk for health problems in minors associated with piercings can include the transmission of infection, blood-borne viruses, scaring and nerve damage.

New laws prohibit scarification, tongue splitting, beading and branding on anyone under 18 and the penalty for tattooing anyone under 18 so far is $6,600.

There is cause for concern regarding this law. Most feel that young adults will try to go to unlicensed people or even try to do their own tattoos and in this case infections and damaged nerves increase.
